(8:40 AM) A Tale of Two Clouds: Private and Mobile (Citrix Systems) †

• There are two clouds that when combined provide a big threat to the established practices and controls of the IT department. The first cloud, the private cloud, lacks two important attributes of cloud computing. First, you have to buy it up front – instead of paying for it as you go, and second, the adoption of cloud means almost no IT involvement. The second kind of kind of cloud is the "Cloud in your pocket" - the one that powers your smartphone or tablet. This talk will look at the infrastructural requirements to deliver both kinds of clouds, examine the state of development of such infrastructure generally, and propose a way forward for IT to enable enterprises to serve both consumer use of client devices and enterprise policy needs.

• The cloud has come so far so quickly it’s tempting to think that we’ve reached maturity, but there are likely to be numerous discontinuities in the next few years. In this dialogue, Lew Tucker, Cisco’s cloud computing vice president and chief technology officer, and Joe Weinman, HP exec and founder of Cloudonomics, discuss what’s coming next. How will OpenStack? and Cisco’s Networking-as-a-Service contribution and HP’s Open Cloud Marketplace impact the industry? How much of IT will be in private vs. public clouds? Will the industry be dominated by over-the-top players? Or will telcos, regional players, and vertical specialists have the biggest role?   • 2) Post PC era; PC revolution is my early life like 70's. Looks beautiful document…it's quality. PC is post document era. Now we call post PC era… but everyone has PC now…very interesting.
  • 2) iCloud is device centric cloud model. Data store outside of device. Enterprise space, people spend so many money to stupid staffs, this is problem for cost and productivity. Cloud control more those spendings.
  • 2) Cloud should same productivity inside and outside of company. VM tackle to hardware. Near future mission is that developer involved complex cloud development… this should be more improve,… Also we think new data structure has been needed. Developer world face all existing application re-write for cloud era. This is huge work. We cannot just sit back and watch. More easy build-up application environment and more easy maintenance are needed.
  • 2) Who is competitor?;; In enterprise, MS and Oracle and IBM. Those companies have huge resources and money. Fundamental technology change give us big competitor who are not show up yet. This is very complex world…we have few thousand employee.

• The power of open-source software can’t be denied. At its best, it has democratized innovation and is a stub for other subsequent innovations. Think Apache and the web. But where is the money in it? Does there have to be a profit motive? We talk to two exponents of recent projects -- Open Stack and Cloud Foundry -- both of which are open and have the promise to shake up the cloud industry.
