Web上で設定する、General preferencesの簡単な説明です。自分で機能を検証していないもの多数。

General Proferences †

Processor usage †

Do work while computer is running on batteries?
(matters only for portable computers) †

コンピュータがバッテリーで動作している場合に解析を行うかどうか。ノートPCなどでなければこの設定は関係ない。

Do work while computer is in use? †

コンピュータが使用中の時に解析を行うかどうか。 次項と関連。

Do work only after computer is idle for [?] minutes
(applies only if above is 'no') †

コンピュータがアイドル状態になって何分後に解析を始めるか。前項がnoのときに意味を持つ。
要はスクリーンセーバーのように、何分間放置していたら解析を始めるというもの。

Do work only between the hours of　(no restriction if equal) [?] and [?] †

指定した時間帯のみの解析を行いたいときに設定する。同じ数字を入れておくと常時解析をすることになる。

Leave applications in memory while preempted?
(suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') †

複数のBOINCプロジェクトに参加している場合、解析を中断しているアプリケーションをメモリ上に残しておきたいならyes。よくわからん

Switch between applications every [?] minutes
(recommended: 60 minutes) †

これも複数プロジェクトに参加している場合に、どのくらいの周期でプロジェクトを切り替えるか。

On multiprocessors, use at most [?] processors †

マルチCPUシステムで動かす場合、最大いくつのCPUで解析を行うか。

Disk and memory usage †

Use no more than [?] Gbytes †

使用する最大のディスク領域。BOINCがこの値以上にディスクを食わないようにする。

Leave at least [?] Gbytes free †

最低限空けておくディスク領域。

Use no more than [?] % of total space †

こっちは総容量に対する割合で使用領域を抑えます。

Write to disk at most every [?] seconds †

解析中のメモリ上のデータをディスクに書き込む最長間隔。解析効率を上げるには大きくした方がよいと思われる。

Use no more than　[?]% of total virtual memory †

使用するバーチャルメモリ領域の最大割合。

Network usage †

Connect to network about every [?]days
(determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days) †

およそ何日ごとにネットワークに接続するか。
要はワークユニットをどれだけキャッシュしておくかです。

Confirm before connecting to Internet?
(matters only if you use a modem) †

常時接続の環境がない人はこの設定をyesに。インターネットへの接続が必要になった場合にダイアログで確認される。

Disconnect when done?
(matters only if you use a modem) †

同上。通信が終わってから接続を切断するかどうか。

Maximum download rate: [?] Kbytes/sec †

ダウンロード速度を制限する。

Maximum upload rate: [?] Kbytes/sec †

アップロード速度を制限する。

Use network only between the hours of [?] and [?]
Enforced by versions 4.46 and greater
(no restriction if equal) †

ネットワークを使用する時間帯を指定します。4.46以降の機能です。同じ値を入力すると制限なしになります。

Skip image file verification?
Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example).
Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. †

SETI@home †

Resource share: †

SETI@homeにどれだけのCPUの能力を割くか。複数のBOINCプロジェクトに参加している場合に、プロジェクト毎の配分を決めます。
30%と入力して、CPU使用率が30%に抑えられるわけではありません。

解析状況を示すグラフィックの設定をします。

URL of background image †

This image (JPEG, Targa, BMP or PPM format) will be displayed in the background.

URL of logo image †

This image (JPEG, Targa, BMP or PPM format) will be displayed in the lower corner.

解析に使用しているコンピュータの情報を公開するかどうか。 CPUやOSなどの情報が公開されます。
