実際に米国Kinesis社から購入した際の顛末記です。

オンラインストアから注文する

しばらく品定の末、

• 今から買うならUSBモデルの方がいいだろう
• Dvorak用のキートップもあるといいな

というようなことを考えて、Advantage QWERTY/Dvorakモデルに決定。 ついでに、Savant USB programable foot switchもバスケットに積み込んでcheckout(精算)。

後からお世話になるかもしれないので、ここでアカウント登録。 住所などはどうせ国内の配達員が読んで分かればいいだけなので、 ローマ字綴りで順序など気にせずに書きました。

国際為替を送る

大きい郵便局へ行って、 と伝えると、用紙が渡されました。

書き損じないように注意しながら記入します。

• 通信文の欄には、"`Web Order #xxxx`"と、
• 送金目的の欄には"商品代金(コンピュータ周辺機器)"と 書いておきました。

身分証が必要だったかもしれませんが、良く覚えていません。 手数料は1000円かかりました。 ちなみに当日の為替レートは1.00USD=112.5円でした。

局員さんが「こちらで郵送しますか(というようなことを)」と尋ねてくれたので。 お願いして郵便局を後にしました。

受取り時に消費税1,500円を請求されてびっくり。

払えないと受け取れません。

Kinesis社から直接購入したからか、箱は何の飾りもない白箱です。 開封して内容を確認します。

• キーボード本体
• 交換用キートップ
• キートップ引抜き工具
• パームパッド
• マニュアル
• 教則本
• (何入っていたか思い出せません)

万一、返送するような事態になった時のために、 包みも含めて一式を保管しておいた方が良いでしょう。 ちなみに、返金期間は60日、無償保証期間は2年です。

まずはマニュアルを読みます。 しかし、中身は濃く、しっかり書かれています。

ユーザー登録

マニュアルのお告げに従い、 ユーザー登録しようとするも、エラーで登録できず。 仕方がないので、必要な情報をメールに書いて、「これで登録してね」とお願いしました。

後日、Invoice(請求書、送り状)が郵送されてきました。 他のものと一緒にとっておきます。

総括

やっぱり、海外から買うと何だかんだと余計なお金がかかります。 チェックすべきポイントは以下の点でしょうか。

• 販売価格 (特価情報)
• 為替レート (円高歓迎)
• クレジットカード受け入れ限度額
• 送料
• (為替手数料)
• 国内消費税 (着払い)

海外でも、値下げしている販売店の通販を利用すれば、送料分くらいは節約できるでしょう。 また、クレジットカードにうるさくないところならば、もっと簡単なやりとりで済むかもしれません。

しかし、国内で在庫があるところから買うという、当たり前な方法が一番のようです。
