My Reaction on an Article "Nightmare in the Mountains"

　First of all, I thought this tragedy is a true nightmare, and I wondered why the whole world has been filled with nightmares recently, such as terrorism, war, poverty, tsunami, hurricane attack, or earthquakes. As for natural calamities, even though there are possibilities that disasters will occur wherever in the world, the succession of the natural disasters with high death toll during these several years is an extraordinary phenomenon. Even I who don’t follow any religion feel like believing this could be the wrath of God.

　I’ve heard that a famous charismatic fortuneteller in my country announced that God is resentful about human’s misbehavior. Although I don’t take any fortunes seriously usually, her words carried strong conviction to me as I had heard about awful tragedies which occurred in not-so-rich countries or areas. I think calamities in such poor areas cause a high death toll because of delay of rescue, and lack of food or medicines. Moreover, a terrible disaster easily destroy their weak houses, buildings, and even the military, and there is a limit to the man-power available to rescue injured people. 　What we can do besides making a small donation is to prepare for a natural calamity because it is possible that a disaster will happen to me tomorrow. However, if it occurred like in this article, I hope the helping hands of big countries would get over boundaries of race, war, or religion.
