あらすじ †

　大手重機メーカー剣菱重工で極秘のうちに開発中だった新型多脚戦車が突然、
　市街地へ向かって暴走。
　そんな緊急事態を受けて９課メンバーは思考戦車タチコマと共に現場へ。
　社内でも原因不明の暴走を最小限の被害でくい止めることはできるのか。

剣菱重工演習ドーム内。戦車が無人で動いている。

整備員A「どうなってるんだ？」
パイロットA「おい、あれには誰が乗っている？」
パイロットA「おい、止まれー！」

'戦車がパイロット達の方に向きを変える'。

パイロットA「ん？」
パイロットB「なんだ？止まったぞ。」

戦車のアームが開き、もう一機の戦車を砲撃。

パイロットA「うわぁぁぁっ！！」

バトー「つまりお前には個性がねぇって事だよ。」

鑑識官A「どの機体をチョイスしても、同じスペックで扱えるといって欲しいね。」
バトー「フフン、だがそれじゃあ面白みがねぇぜ。」
バトー「お前にいいもんをやろう、天然オイル?だ。」
トグサ「いいのか？そんなもん入れて。変な学習するかもしれないぜ。」
バトー「いいのいいの。これは機械に対する愛なの、愛。」
タチコマ「おぉ〜？いつもの合成オイルと違いますね〜。」
バトー「おぅよ。」
タチコマ「あっ、少佐！」
バトー「ゲッ！」
素子「タチコマ6機をフル装備で出動準備。」
バトー「何かあったのか？」

素子「36分前、剣菱重工?の演習ドームで新型多脚戦車?が暴走を始めた。搭乗者は一週間前に死亡したこの戦車の設計者、加護タケシの認識コードを使用しているという点以外、詳細は不明。犯行声明や要求などは今のところ無いが、播磨研究学園都市?内で起こった状況を考慮、内務省はテロの可能性を示唆し、我々公安9課?に、これを止めろとの出動要請がなされた。暴走は剣菱重工?が行った最終調整の演習中に起きたそうよ。暴走の原因がハードおよびソフトのセキュリティ面の欠陥であったとなれば、すべての責任を剣菱に押し付けたいというのが、正式採用を検討中だった陸自?の本音ね。」
バトー「相変わらずだな。」
素子「テロリストからの声明があった場合のみ彼らはこの件に手を貸すそうよ。」
トグサ「ひでぇ話だ。面子で国防は務まらねえっての。」
バトー「それにしてもスペックも良くわからねえ戦車相手にタチコマで？」
素子「この子達も捨てたもんじゃないわよ。」
タチコマ「さっすがです少佐〜」
バトー「マジ？」

オペレーター[少佐。戦車は進路を変えて播磨研究学園都市?を出て行く模様です]
素子「チャンスだな。学園都市から伸びるテクノラインは山道を切り開いた専用道路。まわりは農村ばかりだ。よし！戦車がテクノライン上にいるうちに叩く。パズは電脳化?、義体化?などに反対しているテロ組織から犯行声明が出ていないかを確認。ボーマとサイトーは先行して播磨テクノライン上で迎撃準備。最も被害の出にくいポイントで戦車を狙撃、停止させる。トグサは剣菱で課長と合流、戦車暴走の原因を究明。私とバトーはタチコマ6機で暴走戦車を誘導する。」
バトー「それが君のオシゴト。」
トグサ「戦車に吹っ飛ばされて泣くなぁ？」

ティルトローターに乗り込むタチコマ

タチコマ[播磨研究学園都市ってボク達のニューロチップが作られた所でしょ？]
タチコマ[生まれ故郷に凱旋！]
タチコマ[お喋りしてると少佐に怒られるよ〜。]

播磨テクノライン。ティルトローターが道路上に着陸し、タチコマ達を下ろして離陸。

素子「我々は、攻殻機動隊だ*2。状況の説明を。」
隊長「ハッ、通信によればもうじき姿を現すとの事です。」
隊員A「隊長！」

戦車が姿を見せる。

隊員達「おぉぉ・・・！」
素子「今のところ、仲間の戦車を破壊しただけで砲撃はしてこないようだ。道を空けて、後は我々に任せろ。」

タチコマ[わぉ！]
素子[見惚れて奴の射界に入り込むなよ！行くぞ！]

隊員B「攻機*3、初めて見たよ。」
隊員C「実在していたんだな。」

素子[現状の距離を保ち、迎撃ポイントまで監視を継続する。]
バトー[ジガバチ?だ。陸自?の奴ら高みの見物のつもりかよ。]
素子[剣菱重工?への牽制と保険よ。]
バトー[それにしてもこいつの目的は何だ？目的地も分からんし。だいたい本当に人が乗ってんのかよ。勝負にならんのは分かるが、これだけ完璧に無視されると頭にくるぜ。]
素子[じゃあ鼻先に回り込んでみる？]
バトー[・・・冗談だよ。オヤジとトグサからの情報を待つぜ。]
パズ[少佐、該当しそうな組織23のうち20を洗ったが、やはり本件に絡んだ声明などは出されていない。]
素子[よし、残り3を洗ってそれでも何も出ない場合は、他のルートを使って検索をかけろ。]
バトー「愉快犯、戦車泥棒、もしくはAIの故障って線で手を打たねえか？」
素子[愉快犯も戦車泥も、広義においてはテロだ。AIの故障の線は捨てきれないけど、それは課長たちの報告を待って結論を出す。]
バトー[へいへい・・・]

剣菱重工内。

荒巻「先ごろ亡くなった、開発担当者の加護タケシの同僚で、同じく開発を担当していたオオバという技師がいる。暴走した戦車を直前まで整備していたそうだ。お前たちは、彼を事情聴取しろ。ワシは剣菱の上層部と掛け合う。」
トグサ＆イシカワ「はい。」

剣菱重工内の一室。

トグサ「開発担当のオオバトシオさんですね？」
オオバ「え・・・あ・・・あ、はい。」

剣菱重工社長室

荒巻「被害を最小限に抑えることをお望みでしたら、新型戦車に関するすべての情報を速やかに我々に提示していただきたい。」

開発部長、机の引き出しを開け、書類を荒巻に渡す。

荒巻「これで全て・・・ですかな？」
開発部長「ええ・・・」

荒巻[少佐。剣菱重工から提供されたデータを送る。]
播磨テクノライン

素子[確認したわ。これなら何とか抜けるわね。]
バトー[結局ゴツイ戦車の尻見て終わりか。もうすぐ迎撃ポイントだぜ。]
素子[サイトー、準備は？]

BGM:home stay

サイトー[もう少しです。]
ボーマ「こんなもんか？」

ライフル銃座の調整をするボーマ。

サイトー「ああ。」

タカの目?を開けるサイトー

サイトー[少佐、離れてください。]
素子[まだだ、気付かれない様にギリギリまで待つ]

サイトー[衛星とリンクした。・・・少佐！]
素子[よし！]

一斉に離脱するタチコマ達。サイトーが狙撃。戦車は弾を回避。もう一度狙撃するが、やはり回避される。

素子[・・・課長！？]
サイトー[少佐。タカの目?のデータが盗まれている。奴は衛星とリンクしているようです。目視で、あとワンチャンス！]

戦車が弾幕を張り、弾は戦車を掠める。

剣菱重工社長室

荒巻「残念ながら、全ての情報を教えてはもらえなかったようですな。」
開発部長＆社長「・・・」

播磨テクノライン

素子[そのまま撤収。合流しろ！]
サイトー＆ボーマ[了解。]

バトー[高速に乗るつもりだぞ。]
素子[急いで行きたい場所があるんでしょ。]

料金所を突破して高速に乗る戦車。

バトー[ジガバチが離れていくぜ。]
素子[そろそろ報道管制が破られる頃だ。テロリストからの犯行声明も無く、剣菱もこの件を自社のミスと認めない限り、陸自?は白を切り通すだろう。]
バトー[俺たちで止めるしかねえのか。猿親父に期待しようぜ]
素子[そう悠長なことも言ってられないわよ。奴が分岐でどっちに行きたがるかで話は違ってくる。]

剣菱重工社長室。

荒巻「陸自の答えは聞かなくてもお分かりでしょう。後は剣菱が公安9課?を信用して頂けるかですな。」
開発部長「HAW-206は、剣菱が6年の年月をかけて開発したんだぞ！？スペックを公開することで受ける損害を、あなたたち警察が補償するとでも言うのか！？」
荒巻「それは購入先があってのことでしょう！このままでは剣菱のマークが入った宣伝カーが、最悪のデモンストレーションをしてまわることになりますが？よろしいか！？」
リットン社長「・・・何とかおたくの戦車だけで、アレを足止めすることはできんかね・・・？」

剣菱重工内の一室。落ち着かないオオバ。

トグサ「さっきから何を気にしているんです？教えてくれないか、あの戦車キミが作ったんだろ。何が原因で暴走を起こしたと思う？本当に心当たりは無いのかな・・・。別に、この件で君を容疑者として取り調べている訳じゃないんだ。もっと協力してくれないかな？」
オオバ「・・・」
トグサ「・・・それとも、何か話せない事情があるのかな？」

高速道路

素子[バトー、奴がどっちに行きたいのか確認するぞ！]
バトー[市街地に向かうんじゃねえの？]
素子[撃たれるなよ！]

タチコマが戦車を攻撃。戦車が反撃。

素子[散れっ！]

タチコマが一機銃撃される。

タチコマ[あわわわ！！]
バトー[大丈夫か！？]
タチコマ[ダイジョブデース。]
素子[お前はそこで救助を待て！]
タチコマ[オー・・・]

タチコマ「いいないいな、壊れたよ！」
タチコマ「構造解析されちゃうかも！」

素子[課長、奴は橋に進路を向けたわ。対戦車ミサイルを使えるラストチャンスかも。あいつにそれが有効かだけでも聞いて！しくじれば、SPring-8?の4倍の税金をかけた橋を落とすことになるかも、って！]

剣菱重工社長室。

荒巻「だ、そうです。いかがかな？開発部長」

素子[対岸に渡ったら、すぐに市街地に入るわ。ますます打つ手がなくなるわよ！]

ティルトローターからサイトーが戦車を狙う。

開発部長「・・・ミサイルはやめたほうがいい。モードLで操作されていると思われるので、ほとんどの無線誘導弾にジャミングをかけられます。」
荒巻「レーザー誘導でも？」
開発部長「レーザー誘導の場合には、欺瞞信号を出してミサイルを逸らします。オンライン誘導でも、射程距離が300ｍ以上の場合なら、90%以上の確率でハッキングをかけ、ミサイルを発射した本人に送り返すことも可能です。」

欺瞞信号でレーザーポインターが邪魔され撃てない。引き金から指を離すサイトー。

荒巻「黙っていれば、いい宣伝材料になったでしょうな。」

社長室のドアが開く。

トグサ「課長、戦車に誰が乗っているかが分かりました。」
社長「誰がアレを動かしているんだ！？」
トグサ「加護タケシです。」
開発部長「加護タケシだって！？あいつは一週間前に死んだんだぞ！」
トグサ「ええ、聞きました。彼の話では、死んだ加護の脳を戦車のAIに繋いだそうです。」
開発部長「なぜそんなことをしたんだ！？」
オオバ「それが・・・彼の遺言だったからです。」
トグサ[少佐、聞いてます？戦車の目的地は加護タケシの実家です。これが所在地。]
素子[だいぶ近いわね。]
トグサ「ええ、やばいです。加護タケシの目的は、両親への復讐ではないかと思われます。」

BGM05:beauty is within us

トグサ[加護は、兵器の設計に天才的な才能を発揮し、大学在籍中にスカウトされた人物ですが、生まれつき体が弱く、医師からも、義体化しない限り二十歳の春は迎えられないと言われていたようです。しかし、宗教的な理由から義体化はもちろん、電脳化すら許されず、ほとんど戦車の開発への執念で28まで生きていたような状態だったそうです。似たような境遇に育ちながら、義体化することで生き長らえたオオバは、加護の死ぬ間際の遺言、「肉体が死んだら宗教から開放される。そうしたら脳を取り出し、戦車に繋いでくれ。」という約束を、実行したんだそうです。]

荒巻が通信。

荒巻「ワシだ、淡路署のイシヅカ君を呼び出してくれ。」

素子[それで、なぜ両親に復讐を？]
トグサ「生前加護は、病弱な体に自分を生んだ両親を恨み、事あるごとに、鋼鉄の体に生まれ変わりたい、と言っていたそうです。生から開放されれば両親の教えに背くことなく鋼鉄の肉体を手に入れられる。加護は、その夢をオオバに託したんです。」

加護の実家。両親が加護の遺影の前から立ち去る。ニュースでは戦車の話題。
アナウンサー『住民の皆さんは警察の指示に従って速やかに避難してください。繰り返します。住民の皆さんは警察の指示に従って速やかに避難してください。』
加護の実家周辺の市民が避難している。戦車は高速道路の側壁を砲撃で破壊し一般道に降下。

バトー[あーあー、強引な奴。]
素子[ここからだと目的地はすぐね。とにかく追うぞ。]
バトー[特攻でもかけるか？]

荒巻「とうとう市街地に入りましたな。現在、あの戦車による死傷者は一人も出ていません。ですが、これから先はどうなるか予想が付きませんな。」

剣菱重工社長室。

社長「死傷者は・・・ゼロ。」

机の引き出しからCDらしき物を取り出す。

開発部長「し、社長、それは・・・」
社長「わしは、剣菱自体を、明日に残さねばならんのだ。」
荒巻「ご協力、感謝致します。」

新浜郊外。

素子[ワイヤーで戦車の足を狙うぞ！]
タチコマ[了解！]

ワイヤーを戦車に発射。戦車後部の砲台がタチコマ達に向きを変える。

素子[ッ！！ワイヤーを切れ！！]

素子[物理的攻撃ではムリね。]
バトー[馬鹿な考えを起こすなよ！軍の防壁だ、脳を焼き切られるぞ！！だいたい有線?できねえだろうが！！！]
素子[やるだけやってみるわよ！]

タチコマから降りる素子。

BGM:スタミナ・ローズ

ティルトローターで現場に向かう荒巻

荒巻「有効射程まであとどのくらいだ？」
オペレーター「約2分です。」

走って戦車に向かう素子。
バトー「少佐ぁ！」

戦車に飛び乗る素子。銃で外壁を銃撃。蓋を抉じ開ようとする。

素子「ぬぅぅうぅっ！！」
バトー「少佐、無理だ！やめろぉ！・・・おっ？」

ティルトロ−ターからイシカワが粘着弾を発射。

イシカワ「止まれぇ！」

次々と粘着弾が当たり、戦車の動きが鈍くなる。

素子［課長・・・！］
バトー「猿が狸を説得したか。」
バトー「剣菱の対多脚戦車?兵器か。あるならとっととよこしやがれ。」

戦車は進もうと暴れる。

素子「うあっ！」

素子「・・・やっと止まったか。」
バトー「すげぇ粘着力だな。」

ナイフで蓋を開けようとする素子。

素子[課長。攻性防壁?解除の暗証コードを。ハッチをパージして加護の脳を取り出すわ。]
素子(戦車の防壁が無ければ、ただの無防備な脳だな・・・)

解除コードが入力され、蓋が開く。

素子「バトー、手を貸して！」
バトー「おう！物理的なトラップか？」
素子「大丈夫だと思うけど、念のため用心して開けて。」

加護の母「タケシ・・・」
素子・バトー「！！」
加護の母「タケシ・・・なのかい・・・？」

その声に反応するかの様に再び戦車が動き出す。

素子「馬鹿な・・・なぜ避難していない！？」
バトー「タチコマ！」
素子「うあっ！」

戦車のアームが両親に向き、タチコマが間に入る。脳殻を焼ききろうと有線する素子。

加護母「あぁ・・・」
素子「ハッ・・・！」

加護の記憶の断片(？)が流れ込む。戦車は停止。

荒巻「止めたか！！」

剣菱重工内、電話中の開発部長。

開発部長「まことに、申し訳ございません。」
トグサ「たった今、加護の脳を焼き切ったそうだ。」
オオバ「はぁっ！・・・加護・・・」

加護邸前

バトー「クソッタレ、そこまで自分の親が憎かったのか。」
素子「違う・・・。」
バトー「ん？」
素子「加護の脳を焼いた時、一瞬だけど感じた。「どうだい母さん？鋼鉄の身体になった俺の姿は？」そんな自慢とも、復讐ともつかない奇妙な感覚。」
バトー「やめとけ、それはただの錯覚だ。」
素子「ならいいんだけど。それを確かめる術は、二度と無くなったわ・・・。」

Motoko :　We have a report, at 36 minutes ago, a new multiped tank went ＊＊＊ at the Kenbishi Heavy Industries proving grounds dome. One of the only details we got is the pilot is using the ID code of Takeshi Kago, the tank's designer, who died a week ago. No claims of responsibility or demands they've made, but because the incident occured at Harima Reseach Academy, it implys possibility of terrorism. That's why the Ministry of Home Affairs requested for Section 9 to mobilize. The tank run amuck during Kenbishi fine-tuning run what is the simple test exercise. If it turns out that ＊＊＊ because of hardware or software gritch, the Self-Defense Forces will try to pin the blame on Kenbishi since they were considering officially adopting them into service.
Batou :　That's their ＊＊＊.
Motoko :　The ＊＊＊ only offer their support if terrorists claim responsibility.
Togusa :　Unbelievable! What can they ＊＊＊ defend a country with their ego?
Batou :　Hey, we don't even know its capabilities and we're going in with Tachikomas.
Motoko :　Don't be too quick to underestimate them.

Motoko :　Now's our chance.The Techno-line leaving there is a private road that used to be a mountain pass. It's only farms and forests around there. So, we strike before the target gets off that road.
　　　　　Paz, check to see if any groups opposed to prosthetic bodies or cyberization and claimed of responsibility yet. Borma and Saito, you go on ahead and prepare for intercept on the Harima Techno-line. Set up a sniper point and stop it working ＊＊＊ minimum damage. Togusa, you meet up with the Chief at Kenbishi. Find out what could've made the thing go haywire. Meanwhile Batou and I will herd this robot with Tachikomas.
Batou :　You get all the fun jobs, don't ya?
Togusa :　Don't come crying to me if you get blown away.

Tachikoma :　Harima Research Academy is the place where our neurochips were made.
Tachikoma :　A triumphant return to our birthplace.
Tachikoma :　The Major gets mad when we chatter.

Motoko :　I'm Major Kusanagi from Section 9. Give me a status report.
Commander :　Ma'am! We anticipated any ＊＊＊ heading this way.
SWAT Officer :　Commander!
SWAT Officers :　Uhh...!
Motoko :　So far, it's only destroyed the same type of tank which means it probably won't open fire. Commander, clear men from the road, we'll take it from here.
Tachikoma :　Wow!
Motoko :　Don't get star-struck and wander into its field of fire! Let's go!

SWAT Officer 1 :　First time I've seen them work.
SWAT Officer 2 :　I didn't think Section 9 really existed.

Motoko :　We'll keep our distance and continue observation until the intercept point.
Batou :　That's a Jigabachi, I gotta. I guess the folks in the Self-Defense Forces wanted a good view.
Motoko :　It's their insurance and their threat against Kenbishi.
Batou :　Can somebody tells us what's the thing after anyway? Where it's headed. Though even an operator on board? I know we don't stand a snowball chance in hell against it, but being ignored like this pisses me off.
Motoko :　Care to cut it off and get into its space, then?
Batou :　I'm kidding. ＊＊＊ we get some info from the old man and Togusa.
Paz :　Major. I've checked 20 of 23 potential terrorist organizations, but no look. None of them is calling ＊＊＊ this one.
Motoko :　All right, scope out the three of the left. If nothing turns up, starting querying to different channels.
Batou :　Major. Why waste time ＊＊＊ joyriding, or AI malfunction.
Motoko :　In a broad sense, ＊＊＊ joyriding a still terrorism . We can't rule out AI malfunction, but draw out a conclusion after we hear from Togusa and the Chief.
Batou :　Okey-dokey.

Aramaki :　There's an engineer here who knew of the late Takeshi Kago, his name's Ohba, and two were colleagues. This man long with Kago have worked in charge of development. He did some maintenance on the runaway just before the incident happened. You and Ishikawa going question Ohba. I'll speak to Kenbishi head honchoes.
Ishikawa :　Yes, sir.
Togusa :　Right.

Togusa :　You're Toshio Ohba, in charge of development, correct?
Ohba :　Ah, uhh... Correct.

Aramaki :　Well, If you want to keep the lisk of damage to a minimum, give us every granular information immediately. ＊＊＊ into the new multiped tank, gentlemen.

Churnow :　Uhh... Yes...
Aramaki :　All right.

Motoko :　Confirmed. This sort that help us come up with something.
Batou :　So we just waste the day staring at a huge ass of the tank. We're nearly at the intercept point.
Motoko :　Saito! What's your status?

Saito :　Almost ready.
Borma :　How's that, boy?
Saito :　Good.
　　　　　Major, stay in clear!
Motoko :　Not yet. We'll wait 'til the last moment. I don't wanna spooking.
Saito :　Now linked with satellite. Major!
Motoko :　Do it!

Motoko :　What'd happened?!
Saito :　Major, it's hacking in my Hawkeye data. Must have linked up with the satelite. I've only got one chance visually!

Aramaki :　Unfornunately, it seems we won't provided for all information I requested.

Motoko :　Pull out of there and meet up with us.
Saito & Borma :　Yes, ma'am.

Batou :　It's getting on the expressway.
Motoko :　Maybe it's in a hurry to get someplace.


Batou :　The Jigabachi is cleaning out.
Motoko :　That means they're about to lift the press blackout. If no terrorist takes a blame for this and Kenbishi doesn't admit fault on their part, the Self-Defense Forces will probably play innocent.
Batou :　Then it's up to us to stop it, I guess. Let's hope the old baboon comes through.
Motoko :　Don't be so blasé about it. And we'll handle this depends on which way he goes at the fork in the road.

Aramaki :　I believe you ＊＊＊ that the Self-Defense Forces won't help. We got one of option left if Kenbishi will trust Public Security Section 9.
Churnow :　For your information, we spent six years developing the HAW206! Is your ＊＊＊ all of police force's going to cover the losses this organization will incur if the specs of that tank were to be made public?!
