0. 覚えておきたいメモ †

1. 名詞関連 †

冠詞 †

可算/不可算 †

可算名詞 †

  • 普通名詞 
    book chair dog tree house
  • 集合名詞 
    audience class community company team goverment
集合体事態をひとつの物とみなす。
classes は class という集合体が複数集まっているもの。

The audience は集合体 audience の中に居る個々のメンバーにフォーカスしている。
メンバーは複数人存在するため、形は単体だが扱いは複数。

不可算名詞 †

形容詞がつくと可算になることがある。
* a good breakfast
ある一つの良い朝食、というように分類された一つのものとなるためらしい。
  • 固有名詞
  • 物質名詞 
    water wood air money meat
そもそも分けられないもの、もしくは単位を無くして1つと認識できないもの。
ある分量を単位とする場合にはsome/any等が用いられる。
* a cup of water
* some money(いくらかのお金), 

全般を表す場合は冠詞がない。
特定の何かを指す場合には定冠詞がつく。
  • 抽象名詞 
    kindness honesty wisdom
knowledge information experience

物質の性質、状態、動作など、抽象的な物事。
大部分が形容詞や動詞と対応している。(それらが変化した単語である)

ある分量を単位とする場合にはsome/any等が用いられる。
* any help, some interest 
 
全般を表す場合は冠詞がない。
特定の何かを指す場合には冠詞がつく。

out of kindness, not for the money.
*親切からで、お金のためではない。

名詞の修飾 †

修飾の方法 †

  • 前から修飾する。
    単純な一語の場合が多い。が、種類が色々あって重なると厄介である。
    1. 決定詞 : a, an, the, this, that, these, those, my, his, her, Mary's, every, each, either, some, any, etc...
    2. 数詞 : [序列] first, second, third, ... [数量] one, two, three, ...
    3. 形容詞 : 
      [主観] good, bad, fine, useful, expensive,
[大小] small, tall, huge, 
[形状] round, square, oval,
[状態] angry, cool, light, dark,
[新旧] new, old, young,
[色彩] red, black,

[動詞派生] surprising, fallen, sleeping, interesting,
[固有形容詞] Japanese, Gothic, Chinese,
[名詞派生] medical, wooden, stone
  • 後ろから修飾する。 一つの修飾に要する語数が多くなると関係代名詞節が用いられる。 
    a father (who is) with his son. [前置詞句での修飾
the man (who is) to talk with you. [to 不定詞節での修飾
ほかにも、形容詞句、現在分詞句、過去分詞句などがある。

限定用法 †

  • 制限用法 
    名詞があらわすものを、形容詞によって制限する。

  • 非制限用法 
    名詞があらわす基本的な性質を説明する。

*トムの「美しい」妻 [#b9828005]

比較 †

  • as/so - as - 
    * No other student in the class is as tall as he. [#jd9dd088]
* He is as tall as any student in the class. [#dfc9d011]

-er than / more - than
* He is taller than any other student in the class [#df24baa2]

the -est / the most -
* She is the second best tenis player. [#i1469305]
* She is the second best tenis player.
  • 同じ物(人)に対して比較する場合。 
    -比較級は常に more 。
* He is more shy than unsocial. [#f6dd2c91]
* He is more shy than unsocial.
-最上級は the がいらない。
* The lake is deepest at this point. [#k250f19d]
* The lake is deepest at this point.
